Kherwadi police on Saturday arrested two persons for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl. The accused had foxed the girl to meet them, took her to an isolated place and then violated her. After the incident, the victim was left in a local train at Andheri station.

According to the police, on July 9, the victim had gone for a movie with her sister in Virar. After the movie, the sister, her boyfriend and the victim reached Virar station.

"While her sister and boyfriend wanted to spend some time together, the victim waited at the station. After a while, the victim received a call on her sister's phone, which was with her. The caller introduced himself as her sister's friend and told her that even he was supposed to join for the movie, but couldn't come," said a police officer.

He added, the caller then requested the victim to meet him as he was nearby. "Trusting the caller, the victim left to meet him. The caller was a friend of her sister's boyfriend. Later, when her sister called her up, the former told her that she was with a friend and that she would come home late," the officer added.

After spending some time together, the youth took the victim to a lodge and raped her. Later, her sister's boyfriend also visited the lodge and raped her. Meanwhile, when the victim did not return home, her family lodged a missing complaint with the police. The victim was kept at a place in the suburbs for four days and was later made to board a local train from Andheri on July 15. The duo also threatened the victim not to disclose to anyone about the incident. The frightened victim then called her friends and approached the police against the two accused," said deputy commissioner of police, Zone VIII, Virendra Mishra.

On the complaint of the victim, her tormentors were arrested and were booked on charges of rape under relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Indian Penal Code. The two were produced before a holiday court on Sunday and were remanded in police custody till July 28.
