Mumbai schools have done very well in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class X examinations. A large number of students in schools in the city have scored a 10 cumulative grade point average (CGPA), with many students scoring over 90 per cent this year. Most schools in the city have recorded a 100% pass percentage.

Chennai region, of which Maharashtra is a part of, showed a pass percentage of 99.62 per cent and stood second out of the 10 regions in the country. The board did not release any state-specific statistics this year.

Chaos marred the day of the results as most schools in the city were not able to access their school-wise results. While most schools in Navi Mumbai were able to access their results on Saturday, those in Mumbai city and the suburban regions couldn't do so until late evening. While schools tried calling the regional office of the board in Chennai, the calls went unanswered. "There has been a huge delay in getting the detailed results for the school.

This is happening for the first time," said Avnita Bir, Principal, RN Podar School, Santacruz. Thirty-five per cent of students at the school scored a 10 CGPA.

While the overall results for most schools were good, principals said that some students scored lesser- than-expected marks in certain subjects such as Mathematics and Hindi. "52 per cent of students from the school have scored between CGPA 9 and 10 this year. Students have, however, scored lesser marks than expected in Mathematics," said Raj Aloni, Principal, Ramseth Thakur Public School in Kharghar.

At Apeejay School in Nerul, over 60 per cent of students scored above 90 per cent with Mridula Subramanyam scoring a near perfect score of 99.6 per cent. "We are extremely happy with the results this year. A large number of students from the school have done well," said Rakesh Joshi, Principal, Apeejay School, Nerul.

At New Horizon Public school in Airoli, two students – Mahek Bhayani and Deepak Dedhia have scored 99.4 per cent. The school has recorded a 100 per cent pass percentage.
