Mumbai: Seven people take ill due to chlorine gas leak at Mira Road

On Friday, seven persons including five fire brigade officials were affected due to Chlorine leakage in a water purification plant of Mira Bhayander Municipal Fire Brigade Department. The victims are being treated at Tembha hospital.

  On Friday, seven persons including five fire brigade officials took ill due to chlorine leakage in a water purification plant of Mira Bhayander Municipal Fire Brigade Department. The victims are being treated at Tembha hospital.

According to fire brigade officials, the leakage of chlorine from the water tower meant for the purification of water. According to fire brigade officials, they tried to stop the leakage but failed.

The fire brigade evacuated neighbouring building to ensure no other residents came in harm’s way.

"Seven persons are being treated and are stable. The leakage has been controlled and preventive measures have been taken.", said Prakash Borde, Chief Fire Officer, MBMC fire brigade department.
