Darshan Patil could have never imagined that a Rs 230 toll will cost him so dearly.
A bank manager from Pune, Patil had paid Rs 230 toll at the Khalapur toll plaza on Pune-Mumbai Expressway on September 9 at around 6:30pm.
Two hours and six messages later, Patil realised that he has been duped and that somebody has made purchases worth Rs 87,000 from his debit card.
He has registered a complaint at the Hadapsar police station in Pune, a mid-day report said.
Patil believes that his card details were compromised at the toll plaza when he swiped the card.
"I don't give my pin number to anyone. In fact, I entered the code myself. But I can't deny the possibility of any mischief done by those guys. The toll window was at the top and there were CCTV cameras overhead," Patil was quoted as saying to mid-day.
