Mumbai: Massive fire breaks out in MTNL godown in Parel, fire tenders at spot

Around 15 fire tenders, including eight tankers, were pressed into action

A major fire was reported inside at an MTNL godown in Parel on Tuesday evening. There were no reports of casualties or injuries so far.

According to the Disaster Management Cell (DMC) of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), an inferno sparked at a godown near Mauli Sadan building inside Bora Compound in south Mumbai. The blaze was reported around 8:29 pm by locals. 

Around 15 fire tenders, including eight tankers, were pressed into action. Fire brigade teams also evacuated the five-storey residential building - Mauli Sadan - on precautionary grounds. Three ambulances were also positioned near the spot for any medical emergency.

"All the residents have been moved away from the fire for safety. Attempts are on to douse the fire, which has erupted inside a godown," a senior fire brigade officer, from the disaster scene, said.
