Mumbai: Man nabbed for carrying fire arms turns out to be murder accused

A 28-year-old man caught by Chunabhatti police on Thursday for carrying Desi Katta with two live cartridges. However, it was eventually revealed that he is wanted in a senior citizen's murder case.

The accused identified as Anwar Ibrahim Khan, robbed the house of the deceased and murdered him in 2015. Police has been looking for him since then.

According to police, Anwar was arrested from Umarwadi while he was carrying Desi Katta and live bullets. He was arrested for violating the arms act.

When he was interrogated Anwar's past records revealed that he was one of the accused in the murder case of a 96-year-old jeweller from Badalapur and was at large since past two years. "The accused and his accomplices in 2015 had robbed the jeweller's house and during a robbery, they had killed the senior citizen Narayan Ganpat who tried to stop them from robbing. since then he was at large, " said Sunil Bhosle Senior Police Inspector of Chunabhatti Police Station.
