Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday said the four people arrested in connection with the recent attack on a church in Navi Mumbai have confessed to their crimes.

"The four attackers in the Navi Mumbai church attack case have been arrested by the police. Those accused have confessed to their crime," said Fadnavis.

Fadnavis had earlier on Monday set a 48 hour deadline for the police to nab the men who vandalised the church.

There was also an uproar in the Maharashtra Assembly over the issue during which the opposition targeted the government by saying that the minorities in the state are living in fear.

On Saturday, three unidentified men hurled stones inside the St. George Catholic Church compound in New Panvel of Navi Mumbai. The attackers also damaged the glass enclosure of the statue of Saint George.

CCTV footage of the incident showed the masked attackers speeding away on motorcycles after the incident.
