 A helicopter crashed and caught fire in Aarey Colony on Sunday, killing one person and injuring three others.

The chopper crashed in an open ground in Aarey Colony, a green belt in suburban Goregaon.

Four persons inside the chopper 'Robinson R44' were rushed to a hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries.

According to the fire brigade officials, the incident occurred around 12:15 pm near at Jambli maidan, Filter pada, near Stable no. 21 & 22.

"Three fire engines and ambulances were rushed to the spot as soon as we are informed about the mishap. The fire has been doused," said a fire brigade official.

"We are investigating how the mishap took place," said a police officer.

According to ANI, the 1992 made 'Robinson R44', which was originally with Pawan Hans, was later sold to a private aviation company which used it for joy ride after repairing it.
