Mumbai: Boiler blast in Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited, three killed, five injured

A boiler blast took place on Saturday evening at Chembur in suburban Mumbai in Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited.

According to ANI, three people were killed and five injured in the incident.

Reports state that preliminary probe into the matter reveal that the incident took place in a unit at around 5.45 PM. Though the reason for the blast has not been ascertained, it has been said that some maintenance work was being carried out.

A police official leaving the highly guarded premises spread over a large area said the efforts to curb the fire is underway. She, however, did not reveal the extent of damage caused and even the magnitude of the fire. "I do not know much. The firefight  is going on inside. We do not have much information right now. There are a total of eight casualties, three are dead and five are injured," she said.

Earlier last month, a boiler blast took place in Dombivali wherein 12 people were reported dead.
