Nine others have reportedly been injured.

At least five people were killed and nine others injured after a ground plus three-storied commercial building in Kamathipura collapsed on Saturday afternoon. The incident took place at 2:10 pm at 14th Road, Kamathipura.
Among those trapped in the debris, eight have been rescued.

According to initial reports, several people are trapped under the debris. Nine injured people have been shifted to a hospital, out of which three are in critical condition. The injured have been taken to JJ hospital for treatment.

“The rescue operation is still going on. There are possibilities of a few more people being trapped inside. While seven people were shifted to JJ Hospital, two people have been taken to Nair Hospital,” said a BMC disaster management official.
Five fire engines have rushed to the spot. Zone three DCP S Jaykumar is supervising the rescue operation.
