A 42-year-old Kandivli (W) man reportedly committed suicide at his residence on Sunday by hanging from a ceiling fan using a towel. The deceased, Rajendra More, a resident of Poisar area, used to live with his wife and two children, and owned a pan shop in Rajendra Nagar, Borivli (E).

According to the police, More hung himself around 10.30am on Sunday. He had been under stress for the last few months due to financial problems and some internal conflicts in the family. He used to quarrel with his wife often and sometimes even beat her up while under the influence of alcohol, said police. Irritated with the fights, More's wife had recently shifted to her maternal home.
On Saturday morning, More's wife came to the house to take the children and her belongings. More tried to persuade her to stay back, but she did not budge and left. The incident upset More even more. On Sunday morning, when he was alone in the house, More hung himself from the fan using a towel.
When More did not step out of his home for a long time, the neighbours felt something amiss and checked inside, to find him hanging. They then informed the police.
Senior police inspector of Kandivli police station, Mukund Pawar, said, "We have not found any suicide note from the house of the deceased. We have registered a case of accidental death. We believe there is no foul play in the case. Our preliminary investigation has revealed that More had a quarrelsome nature and used to beat his wife on certain occasions. The police are investigating the case from all possible angles."
