Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said on Tuesday that multi faceted issues are likely to be discussed on US Secretary of State, John Kerry's visit to India.

Akbaruddin told ANI, "Secretary of State, Kerry will be visiting India for the strategic dialogue with his counterpart External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. This is the first high level engagement between India and the USA, after the new government in India has taken office."

"Obviously we are very keen to engage so that India and the USA which have a strategic partnership that is multi faceted in nature can work together on a series of issues," he added.

Talking about Narendra Modi's planned visit to USA, he said, "Prime Minister will be visiting Washington later during the year and the effort is to work towards positive outcomes that will enhance India-USA relationship."

"Finally, as India and the USA have multi faceted relationship, so it is likely that we will be discussing not only the bilateral issues of economic nature with positive goals and outcomes but also regional and international issues where we collaborate in such fora as the UN and other organizations," he added.

The first Strategic Dialogue was held in Washington in June 2010, followed by successive rounds in New Delhi (July 2011), Washington (June 2012) and New Delhi (June 2013).
