Branding Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as "Mr Corrupt", the BJP said he has lost the "moral right" to remain in power and requested the Lt Governor to consider dismissing the AAP government.

Latching on to sacked AAP minister Kapil Mishra's allegations of "massive" financial irregularities in the AAP's funding, Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said, "Kejriwal has lost the moral right to rule in view of Mishra's allegations. It is time the Lt Governor (Anil Baijal) assesses the political situation with a possibility to dismiss the Kejriwal government."

He also demanded the AAP bring in an "interim" chief minister to replace Kejriwal. BJP national spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi said Kejriwal must come clean about the allegations levelled by the sacked Delhi minister.

He must respond to Mishra's claims instead of resorting to mud-slinging, she demanded.

"Mr Corrupt has increased corruption in Delhi by leaps and bounds and this has overshadowed governance. The AAP's leadership is being questioned because it is one man's party indulging in corrupt practice and filling the coffers of his own family and people around him," Lekhi said.

The Aam Aadmi Party has now become "Kejriwal Aadmi Party", she added.

Mocking the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) rift, Union Minister for Science and Technology Dr. Harshvardhan on Sunday said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his party have lost their credibility as they have deceived the people’s expectations.

‘Kejriwal and AAP have lost the credibility among people and Kapil Mishra has reiterated that fact. People have no longer any faith in their actions and deeds and they feel that they have virtually deceived them. I think Kejriwal has to admit that by doing all this he has done great harm to this country,’ he told ANI.

He added that Kejriwal has deceived the movement once started by social activist Anna Hazare.

‘Now people will not have any faith in any anti-corruption crusades started by anyone in this country. That’s the biggest set-back which I feel is a great loss for the country,’ Harshvardhan said.

Speaking on AAP’s move of blaming the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for creating the dispute within the party, he said the saffron party does not get affected by this in any way as it is used to hearing such statements.

‘If they can’t validate or justify their deeds, they put the blame on the BJP. The people want Kejriwal to answer regarding the allegations that have been put forward by Mishra against him about serious corruption charges,’ he added.

The AAP swept to power in Delhi riding on its anti- corruption movement.

Tiwari said Mishra's allegations vindicated the BJP's stand. "Whatever the BJP has been saying about corruption and financial irregularities in the Aam Aadmi Party stand vindicated after former minister Kapil Mishra's revelations," he said.

He also requested Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley to investigate alleged "irregularities" in the AAP's funding.

Responding to the AAP's claim that Mishra was "parroting" the BJP, Lekhi, an MP from central Delhi, said the sacked minister was once Kejriwal's confidant.

"Nobody has to parrot the BJP's lines. This person (Mishra) is somebody at whose behest people like Prashant Bhushan and Yogendra Yadav were thrown out of the AAP. He was close to Mr Corrupt.

"The BJP has nothing to do with him. When people from within the AAP are questioning the party leadership, we really don't have much task to do. We can only ask questions in consonance," she said.

Earlier today, Mishra told the media at his residence that the AAP had received "crores of rupees" from "shell companies" run by people close to Kejriwal.

He said there were discrepancies in the money received by the AAP and the amount it declared before the Election Commission.

The AAP refuted Mishra's charges and said he was "parroting" the BJP.
