A most wanted Indian terrorist involved in various blasts who had escaped during the Batla House encounter in 2008  was arrested by the Delhi Police Special Cell on Wednesday

Ariz Khan alias Junaid, a resident of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh is an accused in five bomb blast cases.

An engineer-turned-terrorist, Junaid managed to give police the slip for a period of 10 years.

"Delhi Police Special Team arrested Ariz Khan alias Junaid. He was involved in many bombing incidents including 2008 Delhi serial blasts. 165 people died in incidents he was involved in," said Pramod Singh Kushwaha, DCP, Special Cell Delhi Police.

Delhi police also said that he is an expert bomb maker, conspirator and executioner. "He was associated with Atif Amin who was killed in Batla House encounter. He was also wanted in 2007 UP blasts, 2008 Jaipur serial blasts, 2008 Ahmedabad blasts and had escaped during Batla House encounter," police said.

Khan was present at Batla House, along with four others, and had managed to give police the slip during the encounter on September 19, 2008 in Delhi's Jamia Nagar, in which two Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed and as many arrested.

A trial court here in July 2013 had sentenced Indian Mujahideen (IM) terrorist Shahzad Ahmed to life imprisonment in connection with the Batla House encounter case. His appeal against the trial court's verdict has been pending in the high court.

This arrest comes days after India's most wanted terrorist, Abdul Subhan Qureshi an accused in the 2008 Gujarat serial blasts case, was arrested by the Special Cell on January 22.
