CPI(M) Politburo member Brinda Karat today said chances were bright in the on going CBI probe into the multi-crore Saradha ponzi scam that names of more Trinamool Congress leaders and some of its MPs and MLAs will pop up.
"The CBI investigation so far indicates that several leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress were involved in the Saradha scam," said Karat, who was here to attend a All India Democratic Women's Organisation meeting. "At one point of time, West Bengal used to the be the safest place for women in the country. But now, the state has turned to be the 'capital of torture'," she told a press conference.
The perpetrators were enjoying the patronage of the ruling party and those who were involved were mostly TMC workers, she said. Karat said CPI(M)'s women's wing has taken up a state wide agitation programme from September 4 against crimes against women.
