More than 150 SOS calls at Maharashtra Sadan

Those from the state stuck in Nepal include 50 nurses of the Brihanmumbai municipal corporation and rest tourists and others

More than 150 SOS calls have been received at the helpline set up at Maharashtra Sadan in New Delhi for people belonging to the state who are stranded in Nepal due to Saturday's earthquake.

"We have been forwarding all the requests to the ministry of external affairs (MEA), additional resident commissioner of Maharashtra Sameer Sahai told dna.

Sahai said that calls are coming from Maharashtra families not just from Maharashtra but from other states like Assam too.

"We don't have specific information as yet as how many from Maharashtra have been rescued but luckily there has been no reports of any untoward incident with anyone from the state due to earthquake," he said.

Those from the state stuck in Nepal include 50 nurses of the Brihanmumbai municipal corporation and rest tourists and others. The nurses had been traced in a hotel and are reported to be safe.

The cell was set up after instructions from Maharshtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The helpline of this cell is 011-23380325. The state government has also set up control rooms at Mantralaya in Mumbai (022-22027990).
