Kashmir Valley is all set to tune in to music again on New Year's eve despite diktats issued by the radical women separatist group Dukhatran-e-Milat which has asked the people to stay away from the programme to be held in the famed ski resort of Gulmarg.

"In the name of art, music and comedy, shameless actors of Bollywood have been invited. It is an attempt to counter the Islamic ideology of Kashmiris. These programs are being organised under an agenda devised by RSS. People should remain away from these programmes at any cost," said Syedah Asiya Andrabi, chairperson of Dukhatran-e-Milat.

Diktats notwithstanding, the organisers of 'Parwaz-e-Kashmir' have decided to go ahead with the programme as scheduled on December 31.

"We are doing our programme as scheduled. There is no change in our programmes and schedules. We are common Kashmiris and want to do something for the state. We do not know what RSS is and what their ideology is. We do not even want to know," Nasir Ali Khan, marketing head of Kashmiryat, which is organising Parwaz-e-Kashmir, told dna.

Sufaina music, art and cultural shows are all planned for the open air show on December 31 on the snow covered meadows of Gulmarg. Several noted artists from across the country are arriving in Gulmarg to enthrall the audience on New Year eve. "We are expecting 2000 guests (to watch the show on that day)," said Khan.

Situated at an altitude of 2,650 meters, Gulmarg is famous for its lush green meadows and world class Alps which is biggest draw for the skiers during winter. The resort is also home to Nanga Parbat, the world's ninth highest peak.

The USP of the resort has one of the world's highest rope way known as Gulmarg Gandola which ascends from 2650 meters to the height of 3980 meters. The resort also houses elite High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) of the army which imparts training to the soldiers across the globe in high altitude warfare.

Security has been beefed up in Gulmarg resort to ensure hassle-free show on the eve of New Year.

"There will be heightened security in Gulmarg on that day. We will make all arrangements. We will take all the precautionary measures, though there is nothing specific (threat). We will be taking enough security measures so that youth and visitors will participate in the New Year celebration," Garib Das, deputy inspector general of police, North Kashmir range, told dna.
