Once again Mumbai Monorail services have come to a grinding halt. This time, a train is stuck near Bhakti Park Monorail Station. It is still unknown how many passengers were stranded in that affected train.

The services of Mumbai Monorail were down since around 6.30 am. As per sources, there aren’t any monorail services between Wadala Depot-Bharat Petroleum, but a train is being operated between Bharat Petroleum-Chembur.

Prima facie, it is believed that problems related to power supply are the reasons behind the services between Wadala Depot-Bharati Petroleum coming to a standstill. It has not been announced, by when the services will be restored on the entire Wadala Depot-Chembur route.

“A team is already trying to fix the technical error and the services will be back on track soon,” said an official from Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

In March 2015, a train had got stranded near Bhakti Park due to power failure. An emergency evacuation had to be carried out then by calling Mumbai Fire Brigade.

As being reported by dna, Mumbai Monorail is plagued by several technical glitches. In June, a tyre from monorail had fallen off on the road below. In another incident, parts of tyres fell down, after it burst when the monorail was in motion. The latest being non-availability of smooth-functioning trains for passenger operations. Instead of having three trains in service, the agency is able to use only two trains.
