The Centre will take necessary steps after it receives the state government's report on the Moga incident involving molestation of a girl and pushing her to death from a moving bus belonging to a company owned by the state's ruling Badal family.

Advocating caution while commenting on incidents involving women, Union Minister of State for Home Kiran Rijiju said, "When it comes to incident related to women, we all have to be very very specific. That is why Ministry of Home Affairs has asked for a report and before it gets us, we will not be in a position to react."

"But I am sure the Punjab Government was taking appropriate steps," he said, adding that if the Centre feels appropriate steps have not been taken after receiving the report, "then necessary advisories or suggestions will be given". "But right now, when the issue is directly under the domain of the State Government, it would not be proper for the MHA to react," Rijiju said.

Ending a four-day deadlock, father of the girl who was molested and pushed to death from a moving bus in Moga agreed on Sunday  to conducting of post-mortem and cremation of the body besides accepting the offer of compensation and a government job.

The develompent came while an under-attack Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal described the incident as "intolerable" and "painful" and the police said all the four accused had been arrested. "I want to request that I want to perform the last rites of my daughter," the victim's father told reporters here. He also said that he had agreed for the post-mortem "without any pressure".
