Prime Minister Narendra Modi is known for his unconventional ways of being in the headlines — be it his popular campaign roadshows or his international tours, but the most eye-catching of them all was him meditating in a cave in Kedarnath before the results of Lok Sabha elections last month.

This particular meditation session carried out by the PM came as a big boon for the government of Uttarakhand and particularly an organisation called Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam (GMVN). The viral photos of Modi sitting in a peaceful meditation posture with an orange shawl draped over his body attracted thousands of tourists from the country as well as from other parts of the world.

Situated at an altitude of 12000 feet above sea level, the cave is just 1.5 kilometres away from the holy shrine of Kedarnath, close to 30 people have booked this cave for meditation as a result of which the GMVN has garnered huge profits to the tune of Rs. 50,000. "The response from the tourists is astounding. We have already received advanced bookings till the month of October," said Pyarelal, Regional Manager, GMVN. The authorities are searching for more such caves in the vicinity.
