With the anti-China sentiment running high in India, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAT) has called for celebrating Raksha Bandhan this year across the country as 'Hindustani Rakhi'. In its nationwide campaign, CAIT has created 'Modi Rakhi' which is now in huge demand from traders across the country.

Along with the Modi Rakhi, CAIT also rakhis made out of seeds, grains, wheat, rice, wool, clothes, silk, Madhubani paintings, tribal items, leaves, basil, bead, pearls, drops, etc.

These rakhis have been made by women working in homes and anganwadis, men and women who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, etc. in various states of the country. They are being distributed through trade organisations across the country. Women entrepreneurs, who are associated with CAIT, have taken responsibility for all the rakhi making work.

These rakhis have been manufactured in support of the 'Vocal for Local' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' campaigns initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. They are aimed at promoting locally manufactured goods and inspire people to boycott Chinese products.

Modi Rakhis have a portrait of PM Modi on sheets of aluminium, copper or silver which can be tied using a thread. The campaign started in Delhi and later spread to other parts of the country. CAIT is now getting demand for Modi Rakhis from every part of the country.

By making Rakhis, CAIT is helping in making self-reliant India a reality by providing employment to a large number of people.
