In his blog, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Sunday lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for undertaking the "historic crackdown" on black money and corruption through various measures including constituting an SIT on black money, demonetisation and Benami law.
"Honest taxpayers, the majority of whom are middle class, finally feel appreciated and valued," wrote Shah, adding that "Narendra Bhai's actions against the corrupt have ruffled several feathers and status quo as the privilege of a select few is now over as the poor are getting their due."
Wishing PM Modi a healthy life in the service of the nation on his 67th birthday, Shah said, "Service or seva is, indeed, the best way to celebrate Narendra Bhai's birthday" and urged everybody to organise and join cleanliness initiatives, and devote the day to 'Swachh Bharat Mission'.
"They (Indians) see him as their own, a person working round the clock for their and the nation's welfare, without any self-interest," Shah wrote.
Shah claimed that PM Modi has worked extensively towards poverty alleviation, and under his supervision, the government has undertaken "historic poverty alleviation initiatives (that are) taking shape at a scale unheard of in the history of India."
"With the Jan Dhan Yojana's unprecedented success, the banking system was opened to millions who were isolated from the financial mainstream," he said.
Shah also mentioned the MUDRA Yojna in PM Modi's repertoire. The scheme aims to create an inclusive, sustainable and value-based entrepreneurial culture. "Majority of MUDRA's beneficiaries are from poor households, small towns or rural India," he said.
Describing Modi as someone whose heart beats for the poor, downtrodden, marginalised, and farmers, Shah claimed that his deep concern for their welfare had motivated him to immerse himself in nation building from a very young age.
"In Narendra Bhai, the people of India see a compassionate leader with whom they can relate. They see him as their own. His popularity has transcended all boundaries," wrote Shah.
