Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray has invited a deluge of biggies, including top politicians across all parties, for his son Amit's wedding later this month. While the guest list includes Congress president Rahul Gandhi, top BJP leader LK Advani, the MNS supremo has so far not sent the invitation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, PM Modi has yet not been invited to Amit's wedding on January 27 at St Regis hotel in Lower Parel, Mumbai.

Thackeray, who was going to travel to Delhi last week and personally invite the top politicos, did not do so, but instead sent his two close aides Harshal Deshpande and Manoj Hate to do the job.

The list of people invited so far includes former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Union ministers Rajnath Singh, Sushma Swaraj, Nitin Gadkari, Prakash Jawdekar, Dharmendra Pradhan and Menaka Gandhi.

Interestingly, when Raj Thackeray was earlier asked if he would invite the Prime Minister for his son's wedding, he had said in a press meet, “Does Modi believe in the institution of marriage?”

Thackeray, once a strong supporter of Modi's politics, is now his bitter critic and advocates a stance of a ‘Modi-mukt Bharat’.

Raj Thackeray, on Saturday, called on his estranged cousin and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray to invite him for the wedding.

A source representing Shiv Sena said that the meeting, which lasted for about half an hour, was completely apolitical.

Amit Thackeray is getting married to Mitali Borude, the daughter of a well-known physician, Dr Sanjay Borude. Mitali is a fashion designer by profession and has her own label.
