Minor raped on train: Accused remanded to 4 days police custody, 2 armymen still at large

The accused, identified as a driver of an Army Battalion of Eastern Command, Manjrish Tripathi was brought to the Howrah GRP for investigation after he was arrested in Madhupur.

The accused in the gang rape of a teen on a moving train was remanded to four days of police custody by a Howrah court on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as a driver of an Army Battalion of Eastern Command, Manjrish Tripathi was brought to the Howrah GRP for investigation after he was arrested in Madhupur. Later, he was produced at the Howrah court on Tuesday.

However, the two main accused are still at large. On the same day, Army officials reached Howrah GRP to help investigators nab the two accused.

On Monday, the victim was on the Amritsar Express when she entered one of its coaches reserved for the Army. The family of the victim informed the GRP that she was on the run.

GRP reached the Madhupur Station and found the victim in an unconscious state in the coach reserved for the Army.

Immediately, a medical test conducted on her revealed that she was raped.
