Minor girl gang-raped by lover, his friends in West Bengal

A minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by her 'lover' and his three friends in Nadia district, police said on Wednesday.

The 17-year-old girl, a class IX student and a resident of Haringhat Subarnapur area of the district, was in a relationship with Ujjal Das (20), police said.

She received a phone call from Das on Monday night and went to met him at Talpukur area, where Das and three of his friends - Pankaj Chowdhury (29), Sushanta Mondal (20) and Shentu Barik (20) allegedly gangraped her, they said.

Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Kalyani, Rana Mukherjee said the girl's mother has lodged a complaint alleging that the four persons had raped her daughter.

Acting on the complaint police arrested the four accused. They were produced before a local court which remanded them to 14-days judicial custody, police added.
