Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) candidate in Mumbai Parag Shah is the richest candidate in Mumbai civic polls this year.

Shah, who has declared net assets of Rs 690 crore, has claimed in his mandatory affidavit to the election commission that he doesn't owe a single rupee to any bank.

He claims to be a professional in his election affidavit and faces challenge from Shiv Sena's Sudhakar Patil and Congress's Pravin Chheda. This is the first time Shah will be contesting the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) polls which is slated to be held on February 21.

Shah will be contesting opposite Congress candidate Pravin Chheda in ward 132, the eastern suburb of Ghatkopar.

According to Hindustan Times, Shah is the managing director of Man Infraconstruction, which has undertaken real estate projects in parts of Mumbai. The affidavit reveals that while Shah owns three houses in Ghatkopar, his wife Mansi has one house in her name in the same area and another in Thane.

Shah is considered to be close to local MLA and state housing minister Prakash Mehta, who helped him get this ticket.
