MiG 17 chopper crashes near Kedarnath, narrow escape for passengers

A court of enquiry has been formed.

A MiG 17 helicopter of the Indian Air Force crashed near Kedarnath this morning, official sources said here. All persons on board are safe, they said.

The accident took place around 8.10 AM. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.  According to reports, the  Mi-17-V5 chopper crashed while carrying construction materials. According to preliminary reports, it hit an iron girder while landing. The pilot and co-pilots are safe and they have received minor injuries. 

Indian Air Force in a brief statement said, " Today morning one Mi-17 V5 helicopter of IAF crashed near Kedarnath (Uttarakhand). All persons on-board are safe. A Court of Inquiry will ascertain the cause of the accident".
