Learning a lesson from land issue which led to the resignation of former revenue minister Eknath Khadse, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has decided to put all land in its possession on the website and make the entire process of allotment of land online.

Minister of industries Subhash Desai said that the MIDC, after the decision at its board of director's meeting, has issued an advertisement in newspapers in this regard. He said that by duly informing the public about this, all the MIDCs in the state would be putting the record of land in their possession on its website. He said that keeping the land unprotected can make the land vulnerable and that is the reason records of every piece of land will be maintained and put up so that people at large come to know about the same.

In reply to a question by reporters, Desai admitted that this step was taken after the resignation episode of former revenue minister Eknath Khadse. It was Khadse who had to resign after allegations were made about purchase of MIDC land in Bhosari areas in Pune district by his wife and son-in-law. Desai had maintained that the land in question was owned by MIDC.

Stating that the responsibility of waste water treatment, solid waste management, power and road infrastructure within MIDC lies with it, Desai, on Friday, announced that a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company will be launched to create all this infrastructure. Desai added that to provide state of the art infrastructure, MIDCs will also be providing poles, wiring for power supply as well as that of roads within MIDC and waste treatment in the industrial areas. For this, the SPV company will be formed with the help of all stakeholders since the government alone cannot undertake all these activities even though MIDC has sound financial position.
