Meerut tops the list of Uttar Pradesh cities in facing crimes

Meerut tops the list of cities reporting the maximum number of crimes in Uttar Pradesh.
    
Around 51 cases of dacoity were from Meerut against the total of 136 reported from other cities like Lucknow, Agra, Kanpur, according to official figures.
    
The number of loot cases reported from the city were 352 from the total of 1500 in other cities between January to November-2009.
    
Meerut also accounted for 43% of the total murders across Uttar Pradesh.
    
The number of rape cases reported from the city were 177 from the total of 1330.
     
Moreover, five cases of kidnapping were reported from Meerut.
