Meat traders from Goa have approached the high court demanding relief from the Centre's notification amending norms of cow slaughter. Qureshi Meat Traders Association has pleaded before the high court that the new guidelines violate constitutional norms and the Centre has no right to issue them.

The association, in its petition, has mentioned that the prerogative to issue such guidelines lie with the state and not Centre. "This notification has changed the definition of the trade and traders, and this is adversely affecting our livelihood," the petition says.
