BSP chief Mayawati on Tuesday launched a scathing diatribe against the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in Uttar Pradesh and the Congress-led UPA dispensation at the Centre. She also said the BSP was preparing for Lok Sabha elections, which, according to her, may be advanced.

Speaking at a rally here to mark the sixth death anniversary of BSP founder Kanshi Ram, she did not mince any words while attacking both the governments on various counts. However, she stopped just short of withdrawing her party’s outside support to the UPA government, stating that the decision on the subject would be taken at the BSP parliamentary party meeting here on Wednesday.

She also mocked at Akhilesh Yadav for making populistic announcements. “He has become a bigger ghoshna mantri than his father,” she remarked. “Uttar Pradesh has become crime pradesh under SP rule,” Mayawati said. “Goondas and mafia, whom we had put behind bars, are ruling UP. It is unsafe to venture out after sunset due to criminal elements patronised by the SP,” she said.
