Asserting that the first three months of the Narendra Modi-led NDA government have been disappointing, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Saturday said the Centre has failed to curb rising inflation and unemployment in the country.

The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the recent incidents of misbehavior with non-BJP Chief Ministers.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren had to face an embarrassing situation earlier on Thursday when he was booed at a government function attended by the Prime Minister.

Soren was jeered by the audience in Ranchi as he began his speech at an event where Modi laid the foundation stone for six projects.

Reacting to the recent cancellation of Foreign Secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan, Mayawati said this step of the government seems to be politically motivated and is not merely a part of diplomacy.

Earlier on Monday, India cancelled the Foreign Secretary-level talks between the two countries after Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit met Kashmiri separatist leaders.

Meanwhile, responding to the recent Hindutva remark made by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat, Mayawati said, "The RSS has also strongly evolved as an unconstitutional organization. The comments made by the RSS chief on Hindutva can spread communal tension in the country."

The RSS chief Bhagwat had earlier sparked a controversy with his remark that India is a 'Hindu nation and Hindutva is its identity'.

Commenting on her party's demand to impose President's rule in Uttar Pradesh in wake of the deteriorating law and order situation, Mayawati alleged that crime rate is increasing in the Samajwadi Party-ruled state. She further said that it is a joint conspiracy by the BJP and SP to ensure that President's rule is not imposed in Uttar Pradesh.

"We demanded that President's rule should be imposed in UP but the BJP wants to take advantage of the communal tension in UP as the bypolls are nearing," said Mayawati.

"To improve the condition of UP, it is important that I get re-elected as the Chief Minister. I assure that I will be forming the next government in the state," she added.
