Even as the Samajwadi Party continues to fiddle with family feud and BJP looks for an auspicious occasion, Mayawati's BSP on Saturday declared the third list of 100 candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Congress is also yet to declare its list as it is waiting for an alliance with the SP.

Significantly, the list consists of 24 Muslim aspirants, thus taking the total tally of Muslims to 82 out of 300 candidates declared so far by the BSP. The first and second lists of 100 candidates each contained names of 36 and 22 Muslims respectively.

The announcement of candidates based on caste and creed formula is expected to put pressure on other political parties that are dealing with internal dissensions or struggling to find winnable candidates.
