Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Monday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi misled marginalised communities over honour given to Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

Earlier today, while paying tributes to the leader on his 123rd birth anniversary, Modi hit out at ruling Congress party for ignoring him and said that in 1990 a BJP supported government honoured Ambedkar by giving him Bharat Ratna and placing his portrait in central hall of the parliament.

Mayawati, who claims Ambedkar's legacy, said BJP was against the honour accorded to leader and withdrew support from that government on flimsy grounds.

"The BJP did not like the honour accorded to B.R. Ambedkar. The BJP didn't like implementation of Mandal Commission report. After that they withdraw support from VP Singh's government. But the prime ministerial candidate of BJP is misleading people by making false statement," said Mayawati.

Meanwhile, Mayawati also asked Modi to reveal his caste.

"The BJP prime ministerial candidate is misleading Dalits and backward communities by making false statements and till date he has not revealed his caste," she added.
