Samajwadi Party (SP) and Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) are set to repeat history after 25 years on Saturday as Bua and Bhatija duo of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati would be sharing stage at Lucknow's Hotel Taj to make formal announcement of their tie up to take on the BJP in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

The joint press conference move to give a message of unity for the cadres comes ahead of Mayawati's and Dimple Yadav's (Akhilesh's wife) birthday on January 15.

Speaking a day before in Kannauj at #ChaupalOnTwitter, an initiative to encourage conversation between the cadres of two parties, Akhilesh said, "We decided to correct our counting, our arithmetic. We corrected our arithmetic and the results came in three Lok Sabha and one assembly by polls."

By stitching an alliance, the two heavyweight parties of Uttar Pradesh are eyeing at a vote share (as per to 2014 polls) of 43 percent plus against BJP's 41.5 percent that fetched 71 seats to Modi surge. They are hoping for the alliance to have a cumulative impact on vote share this time because of factors like farmers' distress, unemployment, crisis unleashed by stray cattle, non-delivery on Ram Mandir promise and closure of industries among others.

The two leaders, in a recent closed door meeting in Delhi, discussed the modalities of broad contours of the alliance include seat sharing for the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

While Akhilesh has refused to divulge any details on seat sharing in immediate future, the two parties are keen to keep 37 seats apiece and offer rest of 6 seats to smaller parties like RLD, Congress and NDA splinter parties.

Ajit Singh's RLD that has strong base in western UP is bargaining for at least 5 seats but the SP-BSP are not willing to give more than three. Similarly, fresh from its success in recent assembly polls a resurgent Congress wants respectable seat share in double digit but are not expected to be offered more than two that too only for Amethi and Raebareli.
