Former UP CM Mayawati slammed Modi government and Akhilesh Yadav for ignoring the clashes in Mathura that have been on since yesterday.
BSP chief Mayawati on Saturday lashed out at the Modi government at the Centre, saying it was just tom-tomming its "hollow" programmes to mislead the people and said "bad days" are on the anvil for the BJP dispensation. The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also targeted her guns at the SP government for the Mathura violence and demanded a CBI or court-monitored probe into the deadly incident.
During a nearly hour-long interaction with mediapersons in Lucknow, the BSP chief slammed Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for not taking the Mathura violence seriously.
"Rather than touring Bundelkhand, he should have been visiting Mathura today," she said, and demanded a judicial or Supreme Court-monitored or CBI probe into the incident. Yadav is on an official visit to Mahoba in Bundelkhand.
24 people, including an SP and SHO, were killed in clashes between police and members of a sect who had encroached on government land in Mathura on Thursday.
Slamming the programmes to celebrate two years of Modi government, she said the BJP-led dispensation had nothing to take credit for and was just tomtomming its "hollow" programmes to mislead the people.
"Forget about achchey din, now the bure din of government are coming (forget the promise of good days, now bad days are on the cards for the government)," she said.
"Don't fall prey to the catchy slogas of Modi government. NDA has failed to keep its promises made before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections," she said, adding its sympathy towards the poor was "artificial and just on paper".
The BJP's countdown has begun while in Uttar Pradesh the fight between ruling SP and BJP would be for the second spot as her party would storm to power in 2017, she said.
Describing BJP and Congress as two sides of the same coin, she said the NDA government's policies and programmes were same as those of the UPA. Criticising BJP President Amit Shah for sharing food with Dalits in Varanasi, she said such "gimmicks" do not work or get translated into votes.
"BJP should dimnish such ideas from its mind," she said.
Mayawati claimed that atrocities on Dalits were increasing in Uttar Pradesh as well as all over the country and cited the Rohit Vemula case where, she said, justice has not been given to the family so far.
Mayawati said the recently held Assembly elections in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Assam and West Bengal cannot be termed good for the BJP.
"The party failed to open its account in Tamil Nadu and Puduchery," she said.
The BSP supremo said BJP won in Assam due to "shortcomings" of the Congress.
"The party, which was totally dejected after the Delhi and Bihar polls, is considering Assam's victory as 'sanjivani'. But it was badly defeated in other states. It was due to shortcomings of Congress, which failed to assess its situation correctly, that BJP did better," she said.
She said it has proved that BJP was only winning at places where Congress was its main opponent. She said that with 'sarvjan hitay, sarvjan sukhay' policy, BSP was the only alternative before the people in UP.
Claiming that there was a strong resentment among the people against the Modi government and SP regime in UP, she said that an atmosphere of "jungle raj" prevailed in the state.
Mayawati said if BSP is voted to power, it will concentrate on development.
"After coming to power with full majority, instead of constructing memorials and parks, BSP will this time concentrate especially on law and order and development," she said. She also accused the Congress and BJP of depriving Dalits of reservation rights.
Mayawati alleged that as a part of conspiracy, work of ministries were being given to private sector where reservation was not applicable.
"BJP is following the footprints of Congress on every issue. Its promise of brining back blackmoney and depositing in the accounts of poor has also proved hollow," she said.
"While the first year of Modi government will be known for being anti-farmer, the second year will be remembered as anti-welfare and anti-people," she said.
Mayawati said the NDA government was misleading people in the name of economic reforms. "It has ignored the poor, downtrodden, Dalits, Muslims and other religious minorities."
