President Mukherjee congratulated Dr K Radhakrishnan, the chairman of ISRO, saying, “I extend my hearty congratulations and best wishes to you and your team on the successful orbit insertion manouvre of the Mars Orbiter Mission 'Mangalyaan' after a journey of nearly nine months.”
“The nation is proud of this historic achievement which has demonstrated, yet again, India’s space capabilities. I am sure that this breakthrough, which marks a significant landmark in our space programme, will inspire our scientists to make even greater strides,” he added.
Vice President Hamid Ansari also congratulated the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) scientists and all others concerned with the Mangalyaan mission on the successful placement of the spacecraft in the orbit of Mars. “On this historical day, I extend my heartiest congratulations to the scientists at the Indian Space Research Organization and all others concerned with the Mangalyaan mission. The nation is proud of their achievement,” said the Vice President Ansari. “I am confident that our scientists will continue to scale greater heights and win more laurels for the country in the field of space exploration in the future. As we celebrate this landmark occasion, I join the entire country in saluting them on their success,” he concluded.

He also said, "We take this opportunity to congratulate every single individual who has been associated with this program. We are humbled by privilege of being the government that has piloted Mangalyaan project. It marks the mission by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru who laid seeds for India’s space program. He hoped this endeavor will inspire future generations to develop scientific temper. We have honored that vision, hope this government will take necessary steps to promote growth of scientific temper. It marks culmination of hardwork & tribute to abilities of our scientists and their unfailing efforts."
Several members of India’s political fraternity were also quick to send in their greetings at ISRO’s grand success. Congress President Sonia Gandhi, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy and Aam Aadmi party chief Arvind Kejriwal were among those who sent their best wishes.
