Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday announced host of decisions after all-party meeting. He said, " I have instructed the DGP that cases registered against people, participating in protests, should be taken back. Only the serious cases like attacking police personnel, indulging in arsoning etc will not be taken back".  The meeting comes in the wake of Maratha agitation for quotas becoming violent during Mumbai bandh on 24th July.

Regarding the demand of the protestors for reservations, Fadnavis said, " Govt had framed a law for Maratha reservation but that was stayed by HC. We realised it's a special situation & reservation can be given only on recommendation of Backward commission.Unfortunately, commission's 1st chairman passed away, we appointed a new & that took time". Devendra Fadnavis facing heat for his handling of the situation appealed for calm. Fadnavis was quoted by ANI  as saying, " Appealed that situation should be peaceful & no one should take the extreme step. Requested Backward commission to submit its report & then we'll convene a special assembly session".

He said all political leaders, are on the same page regarding the Maratha reservation demand. He said the parties have decided to take unanimous stand of the issue.  NCP chief Sharad Pawar today said reservations for the Maratha community could be brought about with an amendment in the Constitution. The veteran leader added that he could hold a dialogue with the Opposition parties to seek support for the amendment if the Union government showed its willingness.

Speaking at a press conference earlier, Pawar said, "Giving reservations to the Maratha community is possible by bringing about necessary amendment to the Constitution." "If the Centre is willing, then I can speak to opposition parties to support such an amendment," he added. When the NCP was in power, it had taken a decision to grant reservations to Marathas but the courts rejected it, he said. Pawar also hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Revenue Minister Chandrakant Patil and warned them to not add fuel to the fire by claiming that some people were out to disturb the peace in the state in the garb of Maratha stir. "If Fadnavis or Patil have recordings of people talking about creating disturbances and riots (in the garb of Maratha reservation stir), then they should make these recordings public," Pawar said.
