Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday shared his thoughts with the nation in the 11th edition of his 'Mann Ki Baat', touching various topics including Jan Dhan Yojana, recent instance of violence in Gujarat and the land ordinance issue.

Speaking about recent Gujarat violence, Modi said, "The events of Gujarat have anguished the nation. People will feel shocked if this happens in the land of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Patel. In a very short time, people in Gujarat were able to control the violence that cropped up a few days back. Peace has again prevailed in Gujarat."

He further added, "The route of peace and unity is important and our satisfaction lies in development of the country."

Speaking about land bill, Modi said, "There are many rumours being spread about the Land Acquisition Bill, farmers have been scared. But we do not want this."

Stating that my farmers should neither be frightened nor be confuse, he added, "I have repeatedly said I am ready to include all suggestions. Every voice is important, but the voice of farmers is most important for me."

He further added, "We had issued an ordinance, it comes to an end tomorrow, but 13 pointers that will benefit the farmers will be issued."

The Prime Minister also said that 'Jai Jawan, Jai Kisaan' is not just a slogan, but a mantra. He said,"We are ready to amend land acquisition act to benefit farmers who have been misinformed, leading to a fear in their minds."

PM Modi also greeted people on the occasion of Onam and Rakshabandhan and hailed Jan Dhan yojana on completion of one year.

He said, "The accounts were to be opened with zero rupees balance, but our poor have managed to deposit Rs 22, 000 crores. Jan Dhan Yojana has completed one year. Some 17.75 crore accounts have been opened under Jan Dhan Yojana. We achieved much in remarkable time."

In the previous editions of the programme, PM Modi had addressed farmers, students and teachers, and had spoken on various issues, including the declining sex ratio and the high rate of casualties in road accidents.
