Singh's Twitter account which normally tweets about his whereabouts, his speeches and events gave all his followers a pleasant surprise when he tweeted using the popular hashtag Follow Friday.

Follow Friday is a popular Twitter tradition where users recommend other accounts that people should follow. This happens obviously only on Fridays. The Indian PM recommended Rajasthan elections taking place on Sunday, December 1 state CM Ashok Gehlot was a smart choice indeed.

Also Kapil Sibal being the Union minister for Communications & Information Technology was also an apt choice considering that he just joined the social media site.

However, Tarun Gogoi and Priya Dutt's recommendations remain a mystery.

Is Manmohan Singh following Narendra Modi's footsteps? Politicians being active on social media especially Twitter is now an emerging trend in the country with the 2014 Lok Sabha elections fast approaching, social media has become an intense battle ground.
