Nine security personnel were injured after twin blasts occurred inside an Assam Rifles Transit Camp near Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in Imphal West.

Four people were injured in the first blast, while five were injured in the second.

Last June, three security personnel were injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near Khudengthabi along the National Highway 102 on Saturday.

According to primary information, the security personnel belong to the Assam Rifles.

The injured have been rushed to the nearest hospital and report on their condition is yet to be known.

Earlier in May 8, at least one soldier was killed and three others were injured when a suspected IED exploded in Lokchao area of Tengnoupal district.

The incident took place near Lokchao village located under Moreh Police Station.

In January this year, the NIA arrested a member of a banned terror organisation in connection with the ambush on an Army convoy in 2015 in Manipur in which 18 personnel were killed.

The accused, identified as Naorem Premkanta Singh, is a member of group Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) which is believed to be behind the Chandel Army ambush on June 4, 2015. The accused had been absconding since the ambush took place, the NIA said in a statement.

A pistol and five live rounds were recovered from his possession. The operation was jointly conducted by the NIA and the Manipur Police.

He was "found involved in an NIA case related to the ambush on Army personnel in Chandel district, Manipur, on June 4, 2015, in which 18 Army personnel were killed", the NIA statement said.

He had participated in the said ambush on Army personnel of 6th Dogra Battalion.  The above accused had been absconding since the ambush took place, the agency said.
