A feud between neighbours over the plucking mangoes from each other's orchards led to a minor girl allegedly being burnt alive in Kheshaan village of Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur district.

The victim's father said that the argument had been going on for the past few days.

"The arguments over the plucking of mangoes have been going on for the last eight days... I had complained that they stole mangoes from my farm and they in turn said that I pluck mangoes from their farm and sell them. We were not at home when they (the neighbours) came over and argued with my daughter," the father said.

"They dragged her out of the house and thrashed her. When she fainted and became immobile, they set her ablaze. They thought that people would think that my daughter had set herself on fire," he added.

The victim's parents have lodged an FIR with the Ghazipur police.

Fatehpur Superintendent of Police Anees Ahmed Ansari informed that the investigation in the case is on and the accused have been booked under IPC Sections 302 and 452.
