A minor boy gate crashed into a marriage venue on Thursday and vanished with a purse containing mangalsutra, gold ornaments and two mobile phones worth Rs 1.31 lakh. In his compliant to Naranpura police, Gautam Patel alleged that the purse went missing while everyone was busy in the marriage ceremony.
Patel, a resident of Nava Vadaj, went to Keshav wadi to attend his niece Shital’s wedding. He sat near Shital and placed the purse near his chair. He learnt about the theft only when a relative asked him to hand over the mangalsutra. Patel tried to search for the lost purse and left the ceremony to lodge a complaint.

Cops spotted a 12-13 year old boy wandering around the purse in video footage of the marriage. All the family members denied having any knowledge about the boy. “We suspect that the boy, who might be member of a gang, stole the purse,” said Surpalsinh Ajitsinh, head constable, Naranpura police.
