Students Federation of India (SFI) member Raju Kumar Sahu, who was the brains behind the agitation at University of Hyderabad after Rohith Vemula's death, has now reportedly quit the party citing irreconcilable differences over the way agitation was carried out at the campus. He is however retaining his post as the general secretary of students' union.
According to reports, in his resignation letter Sahu said, "My loneliness and alienation are affecting my studies and also apparently driving me towards the unfortunate path undertaken by Rohith Vemula. I think coming into the open and getting distanced from the wrong way would save me from the doom."
Sahu further says, "A JAC (with ASA) is formed with a different sole motive. Initially I thought the fight is really for social justice, which I wholeheartedly support even today."
He further cited 'opportunistic politics of SFI', irrelevance of the movement, false propaganda carried out by certain students as the reasons to quit.
He even alleges that the movement was 'funded by the Congress, Left and opportunist forces of the country.'
According to a report in The Times of India, Sahu was expelled by the SFI after the allegations he made for 'maligning the organisation and the movement Justice for Rohith.' They accused him of 'parroting' ABVP's claims.
