The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Tuesday held a suspect from Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh for alleged links with terror outfit Islamic State (IS).

According to sources, a team of seven ATS officers from the Nagpada Unit was sent to Khargone district on Sunday on the basis of intelligence gathered by the agency of the suspect's links with the terror outfit. On Tuesday, the team along with the Madhya Pradesh Police, held the youth. The team is bringing him to Mumbai for further investigation.

"We have detained a youth from Khargone district and we suspect that he has links with IS. We will investigate the matter when the team will return on Wednesday. Only after we can question him will we be able to say for certain whether he was in direct touch with IS recruiters based abroad, or whether he was self-inspired," said an ATS officer on condition of anonymity.
