Man held for posing as RAW officer

The police have arrested one person who posed as a RAW officer in a bid to release a criminal from a jail in Mathura. The cheat is identified as Navneet Rana and was arrested yesterday, Dy SP Anil Yadav said.
Rana came to the jail here, claiming to be Additional Secretary in RAW and met Yadav. "He first met me and tried to influence me by speaking fluently in English," he said.

However, the Dy SP developed doubt when Rana questioned about the police action to send criminal Rajesh Tota to jail and said that he is inocent. "I immediately told about him to SSP Manjil Saini who, after getting his identity verified through LIU from RAW Headquarters, instructed me to get him arrested as he was a bogus person," he added.

On preliminary interrogation, he disclosed his identity as Navneet Rana from Vikas Puri in Delhi, Yadav said, adding, his driver Manoj, a resident of Patel Nagar in Delhi, has also been arrested. Tota is a hardened criminal and shooter who is involved in nearly two dozen cases of loot, murder, dacoity etc and is locked in jail, he said.
