Man gets 10 yrs jail for sexually assaulting minor daughter

A man has been sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment by a court here for sexually assaulting his minor daughter three years ago.

Balasore Additional District Judge Ajanta Sarangi, while pronouncing the jail term yesterday, also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Jaga Hembram, a resident of Govindpur village.

According to the prosecution, on April 28, 2014, Hembram took his 7-year-old daughter to a nearby forest and sexually assaulted her.

The girl narrated her ordeal to her mother after returning home. Hembram was arrested after his wife lodged a complaint at Khaira police station.
