Police on Sunday arrested a youth for allegedly posting a fake photo of Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda (religious sect) head Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh on his Facebook account.

On the complaint from Dera Sacha Sauda follower Punit Insan, police arrested Amarinder Singh, a resident of Ambala City, for allegedly posting a fake photo of the Sect head on his Facebook account, Police Commissioner Ajay Singhal said.

The complainant has alleged that the bogus photo showing the Dera head touching the feet of late militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has been posted on the Facebook which was protested by the Dera supporters.

The Dera supporters met police in this regard yesterday and requested to trace the accused who has "hurt the religious sentiments" of the Dera followers. Police arrested the accused today and a case was registered against him, Singhal said.

Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda had several thousand followers in Haryana and Punjab.
