Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said only West Bengal can fight and save the country from the prevailing “intolerance” and “divisive” politics and cannot be silenced by “threats and intimidation” by the BJP
“The intolerance which is being witnessed across the country in the name of religion can only be controlled by Bengal. Taking out rallies with swords in hands has not been prescribed by any religion,” she said while speaking at a meeting here on the occasion of Buddha Purnima.

She also said that unlike other states, the Bengal government would not bow down to the Centre. Calling the Centre dangabaaz (rioters), she said, “Maharashtra, Bihar and Odisha may not say anything out of fear, but Bengal will not. The Bengal government is of the people, for the people and by the people. We don’t believe in a government of, for and by war mongers.”

Challenging the BJP to put her in jail, Banerjee said that she will continue her fight against them (the BJP) and even go to jail. She will not leave the fight and will protest till the end.

Banerjee also weighed in on the fact that people were using fake profiles on social networking sites to bad mouth her. “People have created hate groups using fake profiles on social media. I have been called a eunuch. I have come to the people seeking justice,” she said.
