Members of the Rashtriya Sayamsevak Sangh (RSS) alleged on Friday that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was providing patronage to jihadi activities in West Bengal.

"There had been several instances such as Burdwan blast, razing of a police station at Kaliachak in Malda and the recent communal violence in Dhulagarh in Howrah district which show how jihadi terror had been rampant in Bengal and Mamata government has done nothing to stop them. Neither the victims have got any state compensation nor have the offenders been punished. It can be easily said that she is promoting jihadi activities in Bengal," said RSS south Bengal general secretary Dr Jishnu Basu.

He added that the reason was political mileage. "Mamata and her leaders are doing this for vote bank politics. Are they trying to convert West Bengal into West Bangladesh? I would ask her and her leaders to refrain from such dangerous tactics for the sake of the country," he added.

Mamata Banerjee had in a recent interview alleged that the RSS was spreading communal violence and trying to spread terror in Bengal like they were doing in other parts of the country. Countering that, Basu said that the Sangh never instigated any violence of any sort, across the country.

Asked about the recent life sentence of RSS workers Devendra Gupta and Bhavesh Patel in Ajmer blast case, Basu said, "They are not RSS workers."

He also negated Mamata's claims that dalits of Bengal consume beef.
